Job interviews never get easier. We, as single moms, have a lot to stress about, and a job interview stresses us even more. We do stress over how to prepare for the interview, as well as about the interview itself.
The first thing to keep in mind is to do our homework on the company we interview with. We need to search for company information, and try to get familiar with its mission, products, culture. Make sure you know at least the name of the person you will interview with.
Then we need to prepare for the interview itself. Prepare the attire; clothes, hairdo, how much makeup to wear. Also check the weather forecast in case we need to make adjustments to clothes. Never wear too much makeup, no crazy hairdo, conservative clothes. Employers do not particularly like attention grabbers, those, who would be disrupt or distract other employees.
Practice questions/answers in front of the mirror; observe how you will look from the interviewer side.
During the interview stay calm, relaxed; it is hard to really do it, but convince yourself to do that. Also remember, that the first impression matters the most. Look the interviewer in the eyes, and have a firm handshake.
Do not forget to send/email the interviewer a thank you note.
