Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible single mothers and their children. From scattered single family homes to high-rise apartments, public housing comes in all sizes and types.
General Program Requirements
Eligibility is based on annual gross income and U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status.
Public housing is limited to low-income families and individuals.
The public housing agency will check the potential tenant’s references after eligibility is established. This is needed in order to make sure the tenants live in a family safe environment.
