The American Bar Association provides pro bono and public service in all states. ABA does not directly help, but rather guides those in need of help to a list of resources in each state.
The pro bono programs match those with low income with volunteer lawyers, who agree to work for free.
Each state has several legal aid and pro bono programs to provide legal help for the poor. Those with income below the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for free legal help. Single moms who are disabled or victims of domestic violence may also be eligible even if their income is a little higher.
ABA is also providing resources in assistance to those with foreclosure issues.
Single moms in need can get free legal help from the American Bar Association.

I have been try to get my divorce here in Arkansas for about 2 years, but everything I look and everyone I talk to say I have to have a lawyer prepare and file it for me. Which would be ok if I could get one of those $99.99 divorces, but due to the fact that we have kids together I can’t get one of those. I went in to a lawyer to start the process and was told that it will cost anywhere from $1500.00 to $8000.00, at that point I asked about payments which are very high. I am a single mom of 5. My soon to be ex-husband has not seen our kids since March 30, 2012 has not paid child support since May 15, 2013 and lives in Calif. Would love to put this behind us and not worry about how I am ever going to handle this. Thank for any help That is given.
