The organization provides services to needy single moms in New Mexico. Services cover housing, meals, early childhood education, adult education and transportation.
Housing Services
Catholic Charities offers several housing programs:
– Rental Assistance Program (RAP)
The program, which operates in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, is an eviction prevention and re-housing program. Applicants need to show either a three day eviction notice. In case of re-housing, applicants must have proof of homelessness (letter from shelter). Participants need to contribute minimum 30% of the household income towards rent. -La Luz Program
This self-sufficiency program is offered to single mothers currently homeless. The program covers rental assistance during the transition to self-sufficiency through employment. To be eligible for this program single moms need to provide proof of homelessness (letter from shelter). They also must be willing and able to work. Participants need to contribute minimum 30% of the household income towards rent. To benefit from the program call 505-724-4670 or write to housing@ccasfnm.org.
Childhood Education Program
Two childhood education programs are offered:
Early Head Start – designed for children 12 months through 3 years of age, and Bilingual Pre-School for children 18 months through 5 years of age.
