Women, single moms, who are in abusive relationships can find shelters that assist them in achieving an independent life free from abuse.

Poverty Reduction
Single Moms in need find help to permanently achieve independence through skill and resource building, education, and planning.
The EmpowerU Financial Foundation workshops teach Money Smart to help moms learn how to manage finances and their credits. They learn how to reduce financial stress, how to save and manage money, the difference between wants and needs, how to deal with creditors, how to avoid predatory lending.

Pregnancy and Adoption
This program helps moms deal with unplanned pregnancies. Caring pregnancy specialists are available for advice and directions around the clock through the hotline 888.818.4445. Specialists will help plan for what is best for the mom and the baby. This can mean giving birth and placing the baby with an adoptive family. Another option is available to temporarily care for the baby if the mother needs more time to make the decision whether to parent or to place in adoption. Read more.
Housing
Catholic Charities in Arizona has provided for more than twenty years emergency shelter and housing for single moms. The charity believes that the vulnerable need a safe place to raise their children with dignity.
The programs provided are:
– Affordable Housing
studios, one bedroom, two-three bedrooms units are available for those with an income at or below 50% or 60% respectively of the country’s median income.
– Foreclosure Relocation
Those, who lost their homes to foreclosure or are at risk of foreclosure, and who meet certain eligibility threshold, can benefit from services such as: case management, housing counseling, financial relocation assistance (security deposits, utility deposits, moving expenses, first month’s rent).
