Is studying something we’re supposed to be born how to do? Our kids come home from school and we expect them to study what they’re learning in school. But have you ever wondered if they really know how to study? Well, to be honest, I never really wondered until a few nights ago. I was staring at my ... Read More »

Single Mom And Grad School. Let The Adventures Begin!
For years I’ve wanted to go back to school but life has a way of getting in the way. First there was just being young and wanting to party, then getting pregnant, marriage and dealing with a husband who wanted a stay at home wife. And I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how impossible going back to school seems for a single mom whose hands are overflowing with responsibilities. Life is so full of demands when you’re a single mom and it seems most of them are to nurture the lives of others. Namely your children. How could there possibly be time to go back to school when even finding time to sleep is a challenge?!
That was how I thought for years but the desire to go to grad school was a nagging underlying desire that just kept growing despite my attempts to wrestle it to the ground and kill it with all my excuses. I know many of you want to go back to school but you don’t think you can. Maybe because of finances, lack of time or maybe you just don’t have the energy after taking care of your children but I can tell you that if you have a desire to go back to school, it’s never going to go away. Why? Because this is your life and somewhere inside your tired and overworked body, you know you are fully capable and worthy of going back to school and succeeding. If you can imagine it, you’ve already created the reality of it. Once something is a desire, you can’t turn back.
I gave up my fears and quit denying my desires and decided to take a leap of faith against all logic. That’s right, I’m starting grad school! People ask me all the freaking time how I’m going to do it. My answer is always “I have no idea” I don’t know how I’m going to do it but I’ve faced some impossible times in my life and looking back, I realize my strength is enough to crush any challenge. Actually, it’s the challenges in my life that make me feel alive. So bring it on!
But I couldn’t do it without all of you. It’s all of you who inspire me to write what I write because I want to support all of you in living your dreams. Life is not about just getting by. It’s about doing whatever you want. Life is your playground and there’s nothing you can’t do so set aside your fears and join me on my journey through grad school. I never thought I would get to this point but now that I’m here, I’m not turning back. I hope you will come back and read my posts about my experiences through grad school. I hope I can inspire you to go back too. So check back soon for new posts!

Grad School Is Far From Impossible For Me
The one question I get asked the most is “How are you going to have time?” I can see where they’re coming from. I mean, I’m a single mother with a full time job, I spend three to four nights a week at the gym where my kids and I commit to martial arts, I write on the side and now I’m going to be on ... A Single Mom In Grad School. It Is Possible!
