An Expat Single Mother in Dublin

My story begins almost 7 years ago. At that time I was looking for a new adventure, and just before I knew it, I was already living in one. I didn’t know, that it would change the course of my life forever.

It wasn’t the first time that I was going abroad for an adventure. I decided to move to the Emerald Isle, and stay there for a while. My dream after Ireland was to move to Africa, but I had to change my plans!

I started to work in a nice cafeteria, and there I met him. I thought it was love, but I still have my doubts.

My daughter Asia, was born there, on a sunny day, 6 years ago. I was happy. Unfortunately things didn’t work out between me and her father. Since I didn’t like the idea of going back to Italy, even though I would have had my family and friends’ support, I decided to stay in Ireland and see if I could get some assistance to raise my daughter.

Now I am working the job that two people should do as he went back to his country of origin.

Asia and I are doing fine. She attends school, I have a job on a casual basis, and I am trying hard, to build up a career for my future, for us.

We call Dublin home, I don’t know if we will stay here for good, but as long as we are together, there will always be a place called home.

Home is just US; this is the adventure that changed my life, forever.
