A Miracle Called Vinegar!

by Leave a Comment

Vinegar – a miracle indeed. This acidic liquid can remove soap build up, wipe out tarnish, remove mineral deposits, and so much more. Among natural cleaners, it is by far one of the best, aside from very low cost! Distilled white vinegar provides an environment that prevents the growth of mildew, mold, and some bacteria, such as salmonella or E. coli.

These are just a few examples on how you, single moms, can use this cheap wonder product you have in your house:

Coffeemaker: Pour equal parts vinegar and water into the water compartment and turn on the brew cycle. Turn off the coffeemaker halfway through, and let the solution rest for an hour. Turn it on again and complete the cycle, then run several cycles with clean water.

Dishwasher: To disinfect the inside of the dishwasher just pour ½ cup vinegar into the tank and run an empty cycle. You can also just place a small bowl filled with vinegar on the bottom rack and run an empty cycle.

Glassware: For clean and spotless hand-washed glasses just add 1 cup vinegar to the rinse water.

Moldy walls: Spray vinegar on the mold stained areas. Wait about 15 minutes then rinse thoroughly and let dry.

Drains: Clean drains and the pipes by pouring vinegar down to them. After 30 minutes, rinse with cold water.

Floors: Add ¼ cup vinegar to a bucket of warm water to clean almost any type of flooring. Avoid doing this on marble or wood!

Steam iron: To remove mineral deposits, fill the container of the iron with equal parts of vinegar and water then press the steam button. Turn off, let cool, discharge and rinse.

Showerheads: To combat mineral deposits dip the neck of the showerhead into a plastic grocery bag filled with vinegar, knot the handles over, secure with rubber bands. Let soak for the entire night. In the morning rinse with water.

Windows: Mix ¼ cup of vinegar, 2 cups of water and a bit of liquid vegetable soap in a spray bottle. Spritz windows and wipe with a paper sheet.

Single moms on a budget can also use vinegar, this wonderful cleaner, for much more. It can remove grease from suede, prevent grease build-up in ovens (wipe oven with cleaning rag soaked in distilled vinegar and water), disinfect wood cutting boards, remove pet stains from carpet.
