Vision House is a Christian social service agency based near Seattle, Washington. Since 1990, when it was incorporated as a nonprofit 501 (c) (3), they have successfully provided transitional housing, support services and child care for homeless mothers and their children and separately to homeless men recovering from substance abuse.
The goal is to coordinate successful re-integration of residents into the community through adequate housing, counseling, child care, food, clothing, education and vocational training, life skills development, employment, medical and dental care.
Vision House is committed to serving a target population who is homeless and whose income falls below 30% of the median income. Residents are allowed and encouraged to stay in our homes for 18 months to two years. Residents may stay longer when they pursue a four-year degree. Four of the past five years, 100% of Vision House families have transitioned to permanent housing.
Programs
Family Program
The Family Program provides transitional housing and case management for homeless families with children. Residents are encouraged to stay 18 months to two years to receive the support and education they need to help them move into permanent housing and provide sufficiently for themselves and their families. Longer stays are allowed when women are obtaining four-year degrees. Residents are required to abide by the Vision House no tolerance policy to drug and alcohol use and to meet with case managers weekly to help hold them accountable for their treatment plans, and their pursuit of educational and career goals. The goal is to integrate families back into the community by providing life skills and parenting classes; money management assistance; Christian counseling if desired; mentoring; children’s activities; and access to medical and dental care, childcare and transportation.

Admission Criteria
Vision House exists primarily to provide a safe and alcohol/drug-free living environment for low-income and homeless families. To safeguard that environment for residents, all applicants must meet the following screening criteria.
Children’s Village Child Care
Children’s Village Child Care and Early Childhood Education Center, a licensed child care and preschool program operated by Vision House. We serve children in the community as well as children living at Vision House. We offer affordable, quality child care tailored to meet the needs of parents and their children of all ages — infants (ages 2 months- 15 months), toddlers (ages 16 months -2 1/2 years), preschoolers (ages 2 1/2 -5 years), and school-age children (ages 5 -12 years).
The beautifully designed center includes six spacious classrooms, a child sized café and state of the art kitchen. Your child will enjoy our outdoor play area which includes an infant area.
Age appropriate technology training is also an important part of the center. Snacks are provided and we offer a hot breakfast and lunch for toddlers through school-aged children served family style in our café.
Men’s Recovery Program
The Vision House men’s homes provide a stable, supportive living environment for homeless and low-income men who are in the early stages of sobriety following a long-term addiction to alcohol and/or drugs. Residents may stay in the program 18 months to 2 years. The program is designed as a group living situation with 4 – 5 men in a house, each with their own bedroom. The men receive help and encouragement from each other and from VH staff through case management, weekly house meeting and optional Bible study. Residents must be actively involved in a 12-step program, Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. VH has a no-tolerance policy. If a resident returns to using alcohol or drugs, he is asked to leave within 24 hours.
The goal is to coordinate the successful reintegration of the men back into the community through a range of services tailored to the individual’s needs, which may include the following: education, life skills development, counseling, discipleship, employment, outpatient treatment referrals, and the building of self-esteem. The program also helps residents actively develop and pursue their own program of sobriety, and to support and encourage the sobriety of other house members.
