Who are you? What words describe you? When asked this we make it so much harder than it really is to answer. You are whatever you want to be and you can be just that right now. It’s so simple and the best part is you are in complete control of who you want to be. And when you start letting yourself be who you are, the rest of the world has no choice but to see you the same way.
One thing I touched on in my last article is that a lot of us waste so much time trying to please others and be what we think others want us to be. But isn’t it exhausting always trying to please others? Isn’t it exhausting always trying to explain yourself to others so that th
ey are accepting of you? Well stop! No more of that nonsense because life should never be hard and you should be exactly who you should be. No excuses. No apologies. No expectations. Just be and own who you are.
Trying to be what others want us to be is exhausting because it goes against who you are. You cannot be anything other than who you are and feel free and happy. It’s just not possible. So ask yourself who you are and if this gets you all worked up and confused then just ask yourself who you want to be. It’s like playing a role in a movie. Your life is the movie and you are the lead actress/actor. You define who your character is, you become that definition, you feel it and play it out and accordingly the rest of the world adapts to your character. Except this is real life and the trouble people have is that they know who they want to be but they don’t believe in themselves enough so they just react to how others treat them and they let this define who they are. Be aware of this and decide that starting now, you’re going to be who you want to be. You can start right now. I’ll give you 3 easy steps that you can start practicing now and take note of how others start to treat you and how your life starts to feel different. I’ve done it myself and I get compliments all the time now on my confidence and positive outlooks on everything.
First you have to define who you are. You don’t have to definitively define yourself but think about who you want to be and how you want to feel. Get out a notebook and answer this. I am ____, ____, ____ and ____. Start with these four definitions. Mine are intelligent, prosperous, beautiful and graceful. Once you define who you are, you have direction. There is no limit to who you are and these words are also not definitive. They can mean whatever you want them to mean. Such as prosperous can mean financially, in relationships, health or whatever. You are whatever you want to be.
Feel who you are. Now that you have your list, think about how it feels to be what you wrote down. Take your time and really feel it. Think about what you have already that makes you feel these things. When you focus on the things you have already that bring these feelings about, it’s hard to doubt it. My shoulders make me feel graceful. I love showing them off so I think about how graceful I feel when my shoulders are bared. Feeling graceful from the inside starts to affect how I portray myself on the outside and I set of a graceful vibe that is all my own. I feel graceful therefore I am graceful. To be something you have to feel it first. This is the most powerful way to become what you want to be. Who you are is in direct relationship with how you see yourself and how you see yourself is in direct relationship with how you feel. So start with the feeling and you become what you feel. A lot of people think it’s the other way around. They think that to be skinny, they have to lose weight first but this is where doubt comes in. They think that action is the way to become what they want to be. And if they’re dedicated enough, this is true but did you know that only 2 % of dieters actually lose weight and keep it off for 5 years? This is because they rely on action and action is much harder to do than feeling. You have to start with feeling. Feel thin to become thin. When you feel it first, you start to subconsciously react on the outside to how you feel on the inside. So practice the feeling and hold on to it. Are you open? Start feeling open and how it feels to be open. Think about a time when you felt open and hold onto this feeling (not the condition) for the rest of the day. Feel open and notice how you start to become it.
Once you are practicing the feeling, relax and live it! Now that you have defined who it is that you are and you have the feeling and are practicing it, you can sit back and watch how life starts to manifest in response to who you are being. When you are being something other than what you are, life manifests in response to that. But why waste time letting life manifest to anything other than what you want to be?! Well now that you are practicing who you want to be, life is going to start reacting to this. I always wanted to be intelligent but once I quit wanting and just started being it, my life quickly changed to adapt to this. All in one year from deciding that I am intelligent, I obtained my bachelor’s with straight A’s and was accepted into not just any master’s program but the exact master’s program that I wanted to be accepted into. I took notice to people complimenting how smart I am and how people became interested in my knowledge on things such as black holes. All of this is because once I quit chasing the feeling of intelligence and decided to just feel it now, I became it and life responded to this.
Sounds easy, right? Well it is! Life doesn’t have to be hard and you don’t have to work to be what you want to be. You just have to have faith in feeling it. You are worthy right now of being whatever it is you want to be. Rich, famous, prosperous in relationships, healthy…anything! You deserve to be it and feel it. It all starts with caring about how you feel. Feel how you want to feel and let everything else fall into place according to how you feel.
