Supermodel, Supermom
I didn't work out during my
pregnancy, but since I've gone
back to work pretty quickly
after having my daughter, I have
started working out with David
again, a few days a week. I
gained about 30 pound during my
pregnancy, but mostly around the
stomach my arms, legs, and face
stayed pretty much my usual
size.
I wasn't worried so much about
getting back in shape. My main
concern was and is being healthy
so I can take care of my
daughter; she's definitely my
first priority now. At the same
time, I am a model, and I was
scheduled to do my first photo
shoot for my clothing line just
a couple of months after having
the baby. So the two-week
program made a lot of sense. I
have to say that I didn't follow
the plan strictly. I'm breast
feeding, and the most important
thing to me is that I'm getting
enough nutrients and that I'm
fully energized, so I pass all
that along!
I do love the protein shakes, and I
have been going o the gym a few
days a week to exercise, but I'm
using moderation. I eat
sensibly, and I rest when I can
and work out lightly. It's
actually not recommended to
exercise until at least six
weeks after you give birth, so I
guess you could say I was on a
modified version of the two-week
plan. I definitely saw results
very quickly, even with the
amount that I did do. I went to
a fitting for a gorgeous dress
to wear to the CFDA Awards event
just five weeks after giving
birth. By the time the event
rolled around a week later, I
was already smaller, and the
dress had to be taken in at the
last fitting.
I don't honestly love working out,
but I do it because I know it's
good for me, that it's necessary
in my line of work, and that it
does give me an energized,
positive feeling afterward. It's
the getting there that's tough!
I think I have pretty good nutrition
and fitness habits, and
actually, it's my lifestyle in
general. I don't go overboard
with anything. I eat what I
want, but not loads of anything
unhealthy. And I exercise when I
can, but not every single day or
when I'm exhausted.
I love working with David because he
knows all this about me. He can
help me tailor a program to fit
where I'm at in my life and what
my quick-results goals are?
Whether it's a photo shoot or
Victoria's Secret fashion show.
He motivates me, and I also
motivate myself, because my
work's important to me? And
let's face it, as a model, image
is a huge part of it! Now, I
have an additional reason, too.
I really do want to be energized
and healthy so I can keep up
with my daughter as she gets a
little older and starts running
around. I think everyone should
just come up with their own
motivations for wanting to do
the program and get in shape.
Nothing really works if you're
not committed to it for your own
reasons.
