Tips on How to Take Care of Yourself During a Global Crisis

During these last few months, the stress levels have been on the rise, from people struggling with finances, to the banking stresses, to the swine flu projected pandemic. There is a lot of uncertainty, a lot of unnecessary panic, and a lot of overall fear. How do you cope with all of this? Some people think it's the end of the world! Nobody likes to be stressed out, frazzled, on the verge of a mental breakdown. So, what can you do to minimize some of the drama, and make your life just a little bit easier during these times?

For one thing, with the information overload that is being thrown in every which direction except straight leaves you wondering what is the truth, and what is not? ...

Another thing, is just overall logical safety. Make sure you wash your fruits and vegetables and your hands! You may want to subside on purchasing pre made food, and spend a little extra time making your own. A little common sense couldn't hurt anything. Instead of having that afternoon cup of coffee, try having a little juice with vitamin C powder mixed in with it. It will give you more energy and it won't stress your adrenal glands out so much.

Sleep can't be stressed enough. Your body can regenerate so much faster if it is rested than if it is not. If you're fighting a cold, taking a few nights to be quiet, and making sure you are fully rested can miraculously heal the onset of sickness. Minimize talking. It takes more energy to talk than to do. Doing is often times what is needed and will get anxiety levels down.

Walking, stretching, and taking yourself out of your immediate environment even if it is for 5 or 10 minutes can help your mind focus on something a little different so you can have a better perspective on things. Give yourself permission to take a break. It's really ok. Unless the volcano erupts and covers everything with molten lava, the situation will most probably still be waiting for you to return.

Breathing; do you forget to do this? Take a deep breath, you owe this to yourself. Practice makes perfect. If at first you don't succeed, try try again.Are you struggling with rude people paying your bills? Try calling the next day, it's only a day away and you may get someone nice on the phone who may actually give you a break. Find some time to think about something creative, it's a seedling that may actually sprout one day when you least expect it.
